To Whom It May Concern:

I have a confession. I'm reading.

I know, I know, I should be doing laundry, dishes, the vacuuming, family history, or any number of other, more worthwhile pursuits - yet here I sit, completely ensconced in the throes of a novel.

I didn't mean to do it, I swear. I went to work this morning to sub for the digital communications teacher (i.e. extremely boring and laid-back day), and innocently went in search of a book to read. I was looking for my usual fare, which would be anything I can a. finish reading during six periods of school, or b. something that's good enough to read, but just barely. That way it won't hinder my abilities to feed my family and assure they have clean underwear.

And then I succumbed to the dark side. As I was rifling through a fellow teacher's plethora of books, I had the misfortune to come across Bresingr, aka the third book in the Eragon series. I tried not to take it, truly I did, but it just sort of jumped into my hands.

All 748 pages of it.

And so here I sit - worthless to my children, deaf and dumb to my husband (who finally gave up and went to bed), reading my book. So don't expect to hear from me this weekend, because I'm also worthless to blogland. The friend I borrowed the book from needs it for students on Monday, so unfortunately (imagine that spoken with COMPLETE sincerity) I pretty much need to read it non-stop in order to ensure its prompt return. True, I'm already half-way through, but what if there was an emergency and I had to take several hours off from reading time?

No, I am all about getting the job done, and so I read. Now stop interrupting me - I have a book to finish.

Have you read the first two books? I just bought the second one, Eldest.

My husband doesn't even TRY to talk to me when I am entombed in bookland. He just takes the dirty dishes out and refills my glass.

Good man.

(Does he tutor other husbands?)

(And yes, I've read the other two, but it's been awhile).

I'm glad you still took time out to blog. At least you've got your priorities straight;)

No time to blog!

What do I pay you for?

I'm reading InkHeart... coming out as movie soon.

Honey Buns loved your story of "mortal peril and humiliation". I would have love to have a video camera at the time.

I'm SO jealous. I love getting caught up in a book---and I haven't found one for a few months that I really like.

I can so relate to you. I get all trembley every time I see a good book.

Awesome Jen! My son Brayden read Eragon and loved it. I haven't even read it yet, but it's on Brayden's shelf so maybe someday I'll get around to it.

In that case, I feel honored that I received a few phone calls from you yesterday. When I'm into a really good book I can barely even hear the phone ringing and life just goes on without me like I'm stuck in a time warp or got sucked into a worm hole.

Oh that is awesome! Since I've recently moved to a town where life is slow and time seems to crawl, I have taken up the obsession with books and too have become immune to the the thousands of "mom" chirps. It's bad but it's hard when you get sucked into a book! I'll need to try that Eragon series! Do a book review on it!

Truth be told, that's how I get when I start reading your blog. I might just have to check out those books for myself

I am exactly the same way, which is why I have yet to read the Twilight series. Waiting for a week unfettered. Yea like that will ever happen. I didn't read any Harry Potter books until after book 4, and then I read them all in a week. Happy weekend. And I always find the chips and cold cereal make a good dinner that kids can make themselves.

Well, gee, in case you don't get it finished before Monday, you could always read the LAST PAGE and find out!

(Sorry -- I couldn't resist!) ;-)

I so know the lure of a great book! I've stayed up until two and three in the morning even when I have to work in the morning. Some books you just can't put down! Good luck getting it finished...and tell the family to scavenge for food...they can handle it!

Loved Brisingr. I dissappeared from the world when it came out. And then I just HAD to read the first two over again, you know right? ...

Never read that series...but have the first movie on it! LOVE IT!

Now I'm going to have to read...

And guess what...I'm totally like that when I read! :)

My husband makes me read out loud to him so it makes me feel guilty to skip ahead and read when he isn't around. But if I pick something that he isn't interested in reading then he knows he won't see me for a while, too.

Uh ohhhhh.....I think I feel the dark side approaching my neighborhood in the form of a 748 page book!

I haven't gotten into those yet (probably because I haven't started them) but I'm back on the reading wagon (or did I fall off the paying attention to other things wasgon? Hmmmm...) so maybe I'll get to them. After I finsh reading the book I'm on.

How's the book going?

Hey guys! (Well gals, for the most part) So glad to know I'm not alone on this one...do you think my hubby will feel better knowing he's in good company?

Crash - as feared, I had an unexpected delay yesterday in the form of my boys' basketball games. Total setback. As a result, it is 10:45 pm, I have to get up at 4:00 am, and I am still reading. Wish me luck...

I told you you'd love it!! You know how I am with a good book, and I'm sorely lacking one at the moment! I'm about to confiscate Kenyan's book he got for Christmas for my own personal enjoyment, lol.
